Stoner says late stop cost him pole

Casey Stoner believes that a late decision to pit for a new rear tyre during qualifying cost him pole position for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The world champion will start the race third, behind Alvaro Bautista and Ben Spies, but believes that there was plenty more pace in his Honda than he was able to unlock during the session, and that the onset of rain with 10 minutes remaining held him back.
