In Colorado, a Big Legal Victory for Active Transportation Funding

Believe it or not, in many U.S. states one of the biggest obstacles to active transportation is in the constitution.
Embedded in the constitutions of 22 U.S. states are bans on spending gas tax revenues and/or vehicle registration fees on anything but highways and bridges. That means no matter how much practical value a sidewalk, busway, or [...]

Report: Anthony Foxx nominated by Obama to be next Transportation Secretary [w/video]

Anthony Foxx

Anthony Foxx, labeled by President Obama as "one of the most effective mayors Charlotte [North Carolina] has ever seen," has been nominated by the President to be the next Secretary of Transportation. Foxx would take over for Ray LaHood, who announced that he would be stepping down a few months ago.

President Obama had only positive things to say about Mr. LaHood, who had previously served in Congress as a Republican, calling him "a model for the kind of bipartisan approach to governance I think we need so badly in this town." Foxx had been a Democrat, but said during the nomination speech, "There is no such thing as a Democratic or Republican road, bridge, port, airfield or rail system."

Scroll down below to see a video from CBS News highlighting Obama's announcement and Foxx's acceptance.

Report: Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Vincent Vega and Mrs. Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction in '64 Chevrolet Malibu

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.

As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.

Da Costa sent to the back of grid

Antonio Felix da Costa has been put to the back of the grid for the first Formula Renault 3.5 race at Aragon after his car ran out of fuel in qualifying. The Red Bull junior stopped on track following the chequered flag, and was unable to get his car back to the pits after setting the third fastest time in the session. Just like in Formula 1, FR3.5 rules require teams to be able to produce a fuel sample from a car after qualifying.

Video: Proof the world revolves around the Porsche Cayman

Or at least the world revolves underneath the Porsche Cayman, in the latest video showing off Stuttgart's mid-engine coupe. Porsche put an Easter egg in the world that spins triple-time, a "famous relative" of the Cayman hidden somewhere on the marble planet, and gave a Porsche Martini bag to one of the first 50 people who could point it out.

With more than 300 views there's no chance you'll win the bag, but you can still go on the treasure hunt in the video below.

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will attempt to make occasional appearances in IndyCar over the remainder of the season if it is unable to secure the funding to continue full-time after the Indy 500. It was revealed early on Friday that the team will stand down after the Indy 500 unless it can attract additional investment, with the hope of regrouping and re-entering the series full-time in 2014.

The Auto GP Series will race at Mugello on July 14th this year, replacing a provisional meeting scheduled to take place at Zandvoort. Honda duo lead Slovakia Ring practice

Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro both dipped under official lap record pace to put Honda firmly on top in the first World Touring Car practice at the Slovakia Ring. The pair spent almost the entire session at the top of the timesheets, with only a brief salvo from the RML Chevrolet of Yvan Muller denying them a clean sweep. It was Monteiro who began fastest, getting to within two thousandths of a second of Norbert Michelisz's 2012 pole time in the opening nine minutes.

Ferrari: stronger qualifying a priority

Ferrari has singled out improved qualifying pace as a 'priority' as it bids to make up lost ground in the championship battle. Although the new F138 has proved to have strong race pace, which helped Fernando Alonso triumph in China , the team has not been able to deliver a pole position so far this season. Ferrari's deputy chief designer Simone Resta thinks that it needs to do much better on Saturdays, especially because it is becoming increasingly clear that starting near the front gives drivers a better opportunity to run in clear air and look after their tyres
