European F3 Championship revived

The European Formula 3 Championship has been revived for the coming season in a bid to increase interest in the single-seater category. AUTOSPORT magazine revealed last week that amid falling grid numbers in the category in recent years, a proposal to merge the British championship with the Euro Series to create a full European championship would be put in front of the FIA World Motorsport Council. While this scenario has been averted, the FIA International F3 Trophy, which began last year in a bid to join up the world's most prestigious races in the class, has been scrapped.
